Each year, MSI hosts an awe-inspiring holiday exhibition, Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light. The holiday season is one of the busiest times at the Museum, and we plan accordingly with our communications to guests to help the successfully plan their day at MSI.
As this is an annual exhibition, a lot of the copy and content year to year would just get recycled or slightly repurposed. For 2016's exhibition, I wanted the team to take a fresh look at the copy to make sure that we were capturing the essence of what the exhibition is all about at MSI. I planned a workshop with all the Museum's writers in order to accomplish this: I selected stunning images of guests enjoying the exhibition for inspiration for our writing and I led the writers through exercises to determine new words and experiences we should be highlighting for 2016's Christmas Around the World.
As a result, I was directly involved with creating a few themed enewsletters, a landing page on our website, and of course many social media posts. I designed a custom Holiday Weekend Checklist graphic for use on the landing page and in enewsletters. I also used the 2016 advertising creative to design a custom newsletter for the general audience.
In addition to all the digital projects I worked on during Christmas Around the World and Holidays of Light, I also wrote our organization's holiday cards. In 2014 and 2015, we moved away from doing an actual printed card and focused on producing a holiday video instead. In 2016 we wanted to go back to producing a nice, printed card to send to our audiences. We produced the following card using gold foil and premium paper.
